We would like to cordially invite you to the finissage of the exhibition "Error" by Paul Ott this Saturday, 29th May 2010 from 11.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. at para_SITE Gallery in Graz, Austria.
Emanating from analogue photography whereupon the photographer could totally control the outcome of the picture and every error has been traceable, in digital photography for reasoning of technical processes this is not always possible.
The work series “Error” takes its point of departure in an image processing failure of Paul Ott’s digital camera which the photographer makes use of to create abstract imagery that illustrate and visualize the error process.
Departing from the crash of the camera and the hereby-produced imagery a body of work is created that distinguishes itself through abstract finalisation and minimalistic colour fields.
By means of magnification and post-processing the error process is visualized and given artistic expression by Paul Ott.
The original motive becomes abstract and remains unknown to the external viewer.
The result is a body of work that is defined by a clear and reduced handwriting that inspire the viewer to own interpretations and associations.
The exhibition has been realised in co-operation with the public construction authority of the Austrian county Styria and is staged in the framework of the design month Graz.

Die zahlreichen Änderungen der Arbeitslosenversicherung in den vergangenen
Jahren haben eine Reihe von Problemen und Informationsdefiziten zur Folge.
Vor allem für Personen mit Mehrfachversicherungen können sich daraus
existenzgefährdende Situationen ergeben. Die übereilt eingeführte
freiwillige Arbeitslosenversicherung für Selbstständige wurde derart
mangelhaft in das Arbeitslosenversicherungssystem eingepasst, dass Personen,
deren Erwerbsbiografien nicht ausschließlich selbstständige Tätigkeiten oder
unselbstständige Beschäftigungen aufweisen, mit dem drohenden Verlust ihrer
Ansprüche aus der Arbeitslosenversicherung konfrontiert sind.
Rund um Arbeitslosenversicherung und AMS haben Interessenvertretungen im
vergangenen Jahr eine Reihe von Verbesserungsvorschlägen sowie Forderungen
formuliert und in die politische Debatte eingebracht. Eine Verbesserung
sowie einige Klarheiten konnten im Sommer 2009 erstritten werden. Der
Themenkomplex Arbeitslosigkeit/Erwerbstätigkeit wird in einer vom Kulturrat
Österreich herausgegebenen Informationsbroschüre dargestellt, die in dieser
Veranstaltung präsentiert wird. ExpertInnen von AMS und SVA, in Wien auch
von Team 4 und bm:ask werden nach kurzen einführenden Vorträgen auch für
individuelle Fragen zur Verfügung stehen. Moderation: Daniela Koweindl

para_SITE TV first episode Yasuaki OnishiToday we will premiere the first episode of para_SITE TV at the para_SITE Gallery in Graz, Austria.
We conducted the first interview with the Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi in his studio and at the gallery yesterday and it gives a good insight into the artistic process of Yasuaki Onishi's sculptures and illustrates the idea and intention behind his installations.
